Don’t let summer pass you by without watching at least one great movie. Before you know it, the summer break will be over, and school will be starting. Whether you’re a fan of coming-of-age classics or cutting-edge releases, there’s something out there to please every taste. From action-packed blockbusters to poignant dramas, the selection of films available this summer should provide enough entertainment for anyone looking to escape the everyday hustle and bustle.

Why is it Important to Go to the Movies

Did you know that going to the movies is about more than staying cool? It’s actually an important part of our cultural experience. Movies have the power to transport us to new worlds, introduce us to new perspectives, and challenge the way we think about the world around us.

Best Day to Go to the Theater to Watch a Movie

Going to the movies is often costly, especially if you have a large family. I recently talked with someone, and she stated that she had not been to an actual movie theater in 25 years because it was too expensive.

Attending the theater at peak times for blockbuster new releases is pricey. However, there are ways around this. The best day depends on what your local theater is offering.

Here are some more ways to save money and still see the latest release:

  • Go on a discount day or night. Typically, these take place in the middle of the week.
  • Attend a matinee showing.
  • Sign up for a movie club membership. Read about movie memberships here.
  • Get a group discount – some theaters offer a family day or other group discounts. For example, some Cinemark theaters offer “Family Day” on Mondays.
  • If you qualify for a senior discount, take advantage of this.
  • Student discounts – some theaters will give a discount if you present your student ID.
  • Military discounts (thank you for your service, by the way) – If you are in the military, you can often get a discount if you show your military ID.

Summer Movies for Children

Many theater chains offer summer movie programs for children over the long summer break from school. In addition to going to the local water park or amusement park, going to a weekly movie can also be a great activity that your children will look forward to.

Here are some of the best movie programs for kids this summer:

  • Regal Summer Movie Express – $2 movies for children each Tuesday and Wednesday during the day’s first show. Check here for dates and showtimes.
  • Cinemark Movie Clubhouse for Kids – Movies $1.50 per ticket, save on snack packs, popcorn, and drink combos. Check out the Cinemark website for participating theaters, dates, and showtimes.
  • AMC Summer Movie Camp – Tickets as low as $3.00 on Wednesdays. Check out dates and showtimes for movies here.

Free and Fabulous Family Fun in Your Neighborhood – Enjoy Outdoor Movies

Treat yourself and your family to an evening out enjoying outdoor movies without spending a dime. Watching outdoor movies under the stars makes for quality bonding time with no expensive tickets required. Make memories they’ll never forget with movie nights in the great outdoors.

Here are five tips for enjoying free outdoor movies as part of your regular routine!

Choose a Comfortable Spot: When picking a spot to watch your outdoor movie, ensure it’s comfortable for everyone in the family. Bring blankets or chairs so everyone can get cozy and enjoy the show. If you have a picnic blanket, that’s perfect too!

Bring Snacks: No movie night is complete without snacks! Popcorn, candy, chips, and other treats are great for munching on while you watch the movie. You can even bring healthy snacks like fruit or veggie sticks to keep things healthier.

Dress Appropriately: Make sure everyone is dressed appropriately for the weather conditions. If it’s cold outside, bundle up with warm jackets and blankets to stay cozy throughout the movie.

Set Up Early: Arrive early so you have plenty of time to set up before the movie starts. This will give you enough time to get everything organized and ready for when the film begins.

Have Fun!: Most importantly, have fun! Enjoy spending quality time with your family while watching your favorite films outdoors!
