Now I know what you all are thinking. Movies are so expensive.
With the money I used to buy tickets for my whole family and get everyone a small drink, popcorn, or candy, I could have rented a private jet and flown to Italy.
Well, that might be true if you go at peak times and max out the soda and treats. However, there is a great way to enjoy the movies again without taking a second mortgage on your home.

Depending on your chosen membership program, you could pay as little as $2.19 per movie. That is a good deal if you consider the average price of a prime-time theater experience. Let’s break it down.
The average price of an adult ticket on a Friday evening: $10.34

You Can Skip the Lines!
Picture the following scenario:
You get to the movies with 5 minutes to spare. You think, great, we won’t miss any of the previews, and for sure we won’t miss the start of the film.
Sometimes essential information is given at the beginning of the movie.
By the way, I HATE missing the start of a movie. It makes me crazy!
Anyway, back to my story:
You get to the theater in plenty of time, only to find a massive line at the ticket window jammed up by someone who has yet to figure out what they are watching and is asking for the plots of every movie playing.
Meanwhile, precious seconds tick away as you adopt the patience of Jerry Gergich of Parks and Rec fame.
You finally get past the ticket window only to find double the line at the concession stand. Again, with someone at the counter who can’t decide what to order or is ordering for all 50 members of their immediate family.
Some movie theater membership programs allow you to skip the lines at the ticket window and concession stand and head directly to your seat.
These particular memberships usually have an app. Simply log on to their app, then purchase tickets and concessions directly on the app. When you arrive at the theater, scan your code in the reader and retrieve your printed tickets, proceed to the concession stand shelf, and retrieve your concession order.
And whoop whoop! NO waiting in any frustrating line. It is glorious!

Earn Rewards Points!
When you join a theater subscription program that offers reward points, you may get access to exclusive incentives, like discounted concession items or free upgrades.
For those reward types of programs, earning reward points is easy. Each time you buy a ticket, purchase a concession stand item, or do an activity online (check the program for online activities), you earn points. Often, it’s calculated as a point for every dollar spent.
When you accumulate enough points, those points can be redeemed for movie tickets, concessions, or movie or theater swag.
As mentioned above, some programs also have opportunities to earn points through online activities. These may include answering survey questions or participating in game nights.

With some programs, subscribers can get special discounts on tickets for exclusive screenings or notifications of upcoming events at the theater.
For example, I am a Cinemark Movie Club member, and I recently received an email with an offer to purchase a ticket to see all of the movies that were nominated for best picture of the year for one low price.
When I divided the cost by all the best picture nominees (and if I were to see every single one), it was just $3.64 a ticket.
